PASADENA, Calif.—Jim Caviezel, the star of Passion of the Christ, saw Divine Performing Arts in Pasadena, Los Angeles on Dec. 30, and said it was “Remarkable!”
When asked, the first words Mr. Caviezel said were “It was great!”
He also admitted, “I didn’t realize the story of Mulan was true,” and explained how his daughter was equally excited about the story. “That’s what [Mulan] looks like when she’s not a cartoon,” he recalled telling her.
Ms. Frances, a soprano who has lived in LA for many years and sung opera, jazz, at churches, in choirs, and with Opera Pasadena, came to the show with her friend Mr. Warren. “It was beautiful,” she said, “I found the choreography and the costuming, in particular, very beautiful.”
When asked about the singers, she said “They were wonderful, I particularly liked the contralto, she had a very interesting voice, very nice.”
Her friend Mr. Warren said “I enjoyed it. To me, it represented a lot of folk art and tradition and history of China, which I very much enjoyed.”
Although she does not speak Chinese, in the middle of the interview she broke into song—in Chinese. She was singing a Chinese song she had learnt years ago.
“I just enjoyed it, I found it beautiful. ... I liked Welcoming Spring, I thought it was really beautiful. It was just really harmonious—the colors, the motions represented joy and blossoming.”
