LONDON—Shen Yun, Divine Performing Arts (DPA) 2009 World Tour brought the New London Theatre alive with the sights and sounds of ancient China on Tuesday, March 3, and the audience responded with a standing ovation at the end of the show.

DPA is reviving the ancient culture and traditions of China’s 5,000-year-old civilization through stories, myths, and legends told through Chinese classical dance, a live orchestra with Western and Chinese instruments, state-of-the-art digital backdrops and master solo singers.

Mr. Jameson, an actor in TV, film and theatre in London, was amongst the audience who thought the DPA performance was “really fantastic.”

“Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves, which is good. I’m an actor so I do appreciate it, yes. ... the dancing was really, really good.”

Mr. Jameson admitted that he didn’t know a lot about Chinese culture, “but I do happen to like what I’ve seen so far. In the movements, in all the dancing, the choreography. I think it’s fantastic. I’d like to learn more. I’d certainly like to learn more about the Chinese culture, definitely. So that’s why I’m here tonight.”

When asked what his favourite piece was he said that he liked the singer.

The vocal soloists of DPA are elite singers who perform throughout the year on many of the world’s greatest stages and who have been highly acclaimed by audiences and critics alike.

And then added: “I also like the story behind the guy who was attacked and then suddenly found that there was a better life after he had left this one. It was very well put together and the story was very well told. So there you go.”

In this segment, Heaven Awaits Despite Persecution, a daughter pines for her father who was persecuted to death for his spiritual belief in Falun Gong, banned in China.
