DENVER—A full house at the Buell Theatre for the 2009 Chinese New Year Spectacular enjoyed traditional dance and music from Divine Performing Arts(DPA). During the intermission, two newspaper owners expressed their feelings.

It was the second time Mr. Braisier and Ms. Zoole had been to a DPA show.

“We were here last year, we were very proud to sponsor last year, as well as this year, and when we were asked to do it this year, we were overjoyed and honored that we were able to do this,” said Ms. Zoole.

“A phenomenal, phenomenal show, this is the second year in a row that we’ve seen it,” Mr. Braisier said. “Absolutely wonderful, very touching and moving. I think the authenticity of the show — it’s very genuine. There’s a lot of emotion, a lot of background story to the pieces that we’ve seen, that are very touching to the heart.”

Ms. Zoole said, “I simply love the music and the dance. My favorite part so far is the piece on the Falun Dafa. Just the feeling that it gives you, the humanity of it, it just touches you and brings everybody in the world (together). It is such a terrible crime, what is happening, but what the piece showed is that we’re all together, and we are all rewarded in the end.

Mr. Braiser added, “I loved the aspect of the show that it’s genuine. And no offense to Americans, but it hasn’t been ”Americanized“, it feels like Chinese. I’ve been to China a number of times, and it feels authentic, and I enjoy that aspect of it. That it’s not tainted from an American perspective, but that it’s actual, genuine Chinese art and view.”

Ms. Zoole concluded, “I just love it, and I encourage everybody to see this show and appreciate the culture of the Chinese.

“This show above all others touches the heart most of all, between the music, the dance, there’s a feeling of goodness and openness that courses all cultural boundaries.”

The Spectacular continues in Denver with two more shows on Saturday.
