A wild koala wandered into a family’s home and took a leisurely tour of the whole house, even sitting on their bed—while they were on it.

Cristal Lumpaan was at home with her daughter Hannah Marie, 7, in Tambourine Mountain, Queensland, Australia, on Oct. 10 when she heard a scratching sound coming from her balcony.

Adorable footage shows the source of the noise to be a curious koala staring in through the sliding doors.

Despite Ms. Lumpaan’s efforts to shoo it off her balcony, the marsupial sauntered into the house and stayed for a 15-minute visit, wandering through all the rooms, even climbing on a family member’s bed.

“I was pretty scared as it was dark and was watching a movie with my daughter and my friend and decided to go out to check the door, as we heard a knock,” Ms. Lumpaan said.

“We were so surprised when we spotted a koala and got so excited. My daughter couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

“We did offer the koala cucumber, carrots, and strawberries but it wasn’t interested at all.

“Instead, it went inside our house and explored everywhere from the sofa and bathroom to the fridge and bin.

“This was an experience of a lifetime. It brought us so much joy.

Recording the precious moment on video, she tells the camera, “We just had the cutest visitor ever here in our house!”

They tried to coax the koala out of the house, but after about 15 minutes, it found its way out by itself again.

“I thought it was gone in the bush, but two days later, I spotted a black little round poo on the ground,“ Ms. Lumpaan said. ”When I looked up, the koala was straight above me eating gum leaves.”
