NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The second show of Shen Yun Performing Arts concluded in the Andrew Jackson Hall in Nashville, Tennessee, ending with a standing ovation and warm applause.

Mezzo singer Ms. Yang from Beijing was excited after watching the show. “Very good, I’m very touched! I really did not expect to be so good,” she said. “I have not seen enough, I really want to watch it several more times.”

Ms. Yang was born to an intellectual family. Her mother is a painter; her father, a writer. Ms. Yang studied with a renowned Chinese vocal music teacher. After she graduated from the People’s Liberation Army Art College, she was a mezzo-soprano singer for the Air Force Song and Dance Troupe. She switched to music publishing due to the complex environment of the entertainment circle. She came to the United States 10 years ago to follow her dream of continuing in the field of the arts, but she had to change her career to make a living.

Ms. Yang said that one of her Chinese friends bought her the Shen Yun tickets as a birthday present. Her friend told her, “I know you still have the dream of art in your heart. You must go.”

New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company.

Ms. Yang was moved to tears by what she saw. “I am glad I came. I was so excited, I cried. I saw their pursuit of art as a life goal. It awakened my dream. After I came to the United States, I was forced to change my career. Today I am very shocked to see such a beautiful, superb and pure performance of traditional Chinese culture, and such a grand artistic group. I did not eat dinner today, but I’m too excited to feel hungry. We art professionals still have the pursuit of art in us. I admire the Shen Yun artists to be able to perform what they love.”

Shen Yun showcases Chinese 5,000 years of China’s culture.

“This is the real traditional Chinese culture and art—very beautiful, very real. Shen Yun revived our true tradition. I am very touched and very excited,” Ms. Yang said. “I feel Shen Yun artists’ understanding of and commitment to the traditional spirit from the performance. I feel their inner beauty, kindness and peace.”

Ms. Yang said she was very moved by the dance pieces and the messages conveyed. “Dance is without language, but the expression of Shen Yun’s dances is very strong. The stories and spirit they convey is beyond language. I cried while watching lots of the dances, such as Plum Blossom. The beauty and spirit of this dance moved me to tears.”

Ms. Yang could recall almost all the names of the dances. “I remember many names. They left deep impressions on me,” she said. “The dances are so beautiful, particularly with the traditional Chinese flavor ... The movements, costumes and the artists’ performance are so beautiful.”

“The music is great. The orchestra is fantastic, great instrumentals. Wonderful coordination with the dances... Truly wonderful!

“Shen Yun’s pianists are outstanding as well. They play a critical role in the performance.”

Ms. Yang also said, “The erhu [ancient two-stringed bow instrument]solo is great. The music is as beautiful and touching as flowing water. I like it a lot.”
