TAOYUAN, Taiwan—The chief executive of Taiwan House, You Mingtong, watched the Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company performance in Taoyuan on March 13. He said this was the third time he had seen the internationally-acclaimed Shen Yun. He said the performance showcased the excellent heritage of Chinese culture, which is not only important for the Chinese people, but also for the world.

This is the New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts company’s fifth tour to Taiwan, presenting an all-new program every year. Mr. You said admiringly, “The programs are different every year, but the basic spirit lasts. None of the programs are duplicated.”

Mr. You further explained that the feeling he got from the show was that it carried forward the essence of Chinese culture.

“Shen Yun presents the best of the Chinese culture, not the current China that we know now. The moral and ethics have disappeared in modern China,” he said. “Shen Yun emphasizes the traditional Chinese cultural ethics and the thought of becoming one with the Divine.”

Mr. You said thoughtfully that Shen Yun played an essential role in passing down the traditional Chinese culture to the future. “From the small to the large, it is important to the Chinese people and to the world as well,” he said.

“The spirit of classical Chinese dance lies in beauty. The Shen Yun performers present it vividly and beautifully.” Mr. You said happily, “The body language and every detail are extremely beautiful.”

He said Shen Yun has brought him a different experience. “China has long given me painstaking and miserable feelings. But now [Shen Yun] brings us happiness and hope, and throws away the sorrows.”
