VANCOUVER, British Columbia—Burnaby City Councilor Anne Kang was impressed upon watching the Shen Yun Performing Arts matinee on Sunday, April 5, at Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
“It was a fantastic show—just to see all the vibrancy, the colours on stage and to know that they’ve been preparing with their heart and with compassion as well,” said Ms. Kang, the youngest city councillor in Burnaby.
The New York-based Shen Yun, now on an extensive 80-city tour, treated the audience to an exciting helping of Chinese traditional culture drawn from China’s long, rich history.
“When I was watching the show, I really felt touched with the story lines. And it really showed what real Chinese culture is and really getting to the root, so I really appreciate Shen Yun coming to Vancouver and sharing this with us Vancouverites,” said Ms. Kang.
Ms. Kang said that this was her first time to see a Shen Yun show, but “there will be many, many times to come. I came today myself, but I will be bringing more councillors with me next year, because I know with this wonderful performance I’ll have lots to talk about with them, and they would want to see this for themselves. I want to do more promotion with this in Burnaby as well.”
To describe the production using one word, Ms. Kang chose “breathtaking.”
