Can’t decide whether to choose a city break or a beach holiday this summer? The good news are that you can have both – many of the world’s most exciting city destinations also have beautiful beaches, making them the perfect destinations for travelers who want the best of both.
Here are a few urban beach destinations to consider…
Miami
With its nine miles of golden sands, year-round warm weather and buzzing atmosphere, it’s no wonder why Miami is so popular.
The city and the beach are fully intertwined, making it a great place for everything from concerts and festivals to just hanging out with friends enjoying the 85 degree water temperatures.
The best apartments in Miami have a view overlooking the ocean, and we highly recommend choosing one that is close to the beach!
Sydney
Located right by the waterfront, few cities are better beach destinations than Sydney - Bondi beach is the most famous of the city’s beaches, and a great place to hang out whether you’re into surfing, tanning or just soaking up the atmosphere under an umbrella.
The vibe in Bondi is awesome, and the beach is busy from before sunrise to long after sunset.
Los Angeles
Stretching over seven miles between Marina del Rey and Pacific Palisades, Venice Beach is a must-visit when you’re in Los Angeles – the Ocean Front Walk is especially good, lined with galleries, cafés, surf shops and ice cream parlors – attracting people of all kinds.
Rio de Janeiro
Famous for its abundance of sexy people, Ipanema Beach is the place to see and be seen – many would argue that the Brazilian bikini clad women are eye candy enough, but the views overlooking the sugarloaf mountain and islands in the distance are also amazing.
The best apartments in Rio are those closest to Ipanema Beach, which is the most exclusive residential area in the city.
Vancouver
Few would think of Canada as a country with any tempting beach destinations, but you would be surprised by what you can find in Vancouver.
Kitsilano Beach is a great place for outdoor activities, and aside from sunbathing in the sand and swimming in the huge saltwater swimming pool, you can have a go at one of the two basketball courts or 10 tennis courts.
