There are numerous places you can visit and enjoy but I plan to give you a top five to aid your decision. If you need any extra help then the Portuguese Tourist Office is a great site to check out.

Porto

First on the list is an old favourite of mine, Porto. This northern Portuguese city is the creator of one of my favourite imported alcoholic beverages, Port. Porto is the second largest city in the country and has a wealth of vineyards and cultural walks for all of you travellers looking to see the more sophisticated side of Portugal. Why not enjoy walks along the Ribeira or down near the Douro River whilst taking picturesque views of hillsides and beautiful old buildings.

Algarve is one of the more famous places to visit when looking for sea, sun and sand.  The Algarve is full of fun and relaxing activities and boasts from a number of charming beaches and villages, which date back to the 15th century. Most traveller choose this destination for a get away holiday and spend it lying flat out on the golden sands, but if like me you prefer a sporting activity, you can head to one of the regions world-renowned PGA tournament standard golf courses.

Lisbon

A trip to Portugal would not be complete without making a stop in the nations capital, Lisbon. Downtown Lisbon offers visitors the chance to shop at some of the oldest and traditional shops that are still standing in the region. Whether you are looking for clothing, jewels or would like to watch the local tradesmen and craftsmen, then make sure you make time to head here. Apart from being able so see some of Portugal’s finest architecture, you can also enjoy an afternoon at one of the countries successful footballing teams, Sporting Lisbon. Even if you are not the biggest of sports fans, the atmosphere and fun you will have here is more than worth the money.
