Bluegrass artist Alison Krauss is ready to hit the road. The award-winning fiddle player and vocalist recently announced the 2025 “Arcadia Tour” with her band, Union Station. It has been a decade since the group toured.
New Music After 14 Years
When Krauss was a teenager, she signed to Rounder Records. Now headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, the label focuses on roots-based music like bluegrass and Americana. In 1987, at the tender age of 16, she released her debut solo album “Too Late to Cry.” As she gained critical acclaim, her label paired her with a bluegrass band, Union Station, so she could have a backing band when performing live. Two years after releasing her solo album, she released an album with Union Station, “Two Highways.”She spent the next several years releasing both solo and band albums. Throughout the ‘90s and early 2000s, the group won multiple awards for their record releases. Their 1992 record “Every Time You Say Goodbye” won a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album. Krauss and Union Station also won a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album in 1997 and 2001 with their records “So Long So Wrong” and “New Favorite,” respectively. The lead single “The Lucky One,” from their 2001 release scored two Grammy awards for Best Country Song and Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
An Impressive Lineup
Union Station has experienced a few lineup changes since the band was formed. Larry Atamanuik, a drummer and original member, still provides percussion for the band. Other longtime members like guitarist Ron Block and bassist Barry Bales will also be touring with the group in 2025. A member of Union Station since 1998 and a renowned lap steel and Dobro guitar player, Jerry Douglas is highlighted in the billing as “Alison Krauss & Union Station Featuring Jerry Douglas,” due to his solo acclaim.
“To say I’m excited about recording and touring with Alison Krauss & Union Station would be a huge understatement. After 40 years of playing music full-time and leading my own group for 34 years, this opportunity is among the few things at the top of the list that my music career has offered me.”
A ‘New Exciting Chapter’
The first four months of the tour features dates throughout the United States.
