After the low key second album of covers, this is a welcome return to the classy balladry of Rumer’s platinum selling debut. It’s unashamedly easy listening and evocative of the 1970s, yet this is not merely a nostalgia trip for Britain’s answer to Karen Carpenter who sings about topics like when we weren’t all lost in technology.

Apart from standouts like the radio friendly uptempo soul of ‘Dangerous’, some of the other pieces could tend towards bland territory in lesser hands – yet the warm beauty of Rumer’s voice combined with the lush production of fiancé Rob Shirakbari create a sweetly languorous whole suggestive of a return to innocence.
