Do you really need another bottle of vinegar in your pantry? The answer is yes, if it’s sherry vinegar. Sherry vinegar comes from the sherry region of Spain and is aged for at least six months, which leads to its rich color and complex flavor. As it is a little less sweet than balsamic, and a bit more nuanced than many other vinegars, there are many uses for it. Thomas Joseph shares three of his favorites.

Start by heating half a cup of sherry vinegar, and half a cup of light brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Then, simmer it for about four minutes it is nice, and thick. Next, add about at teaspoon of water so that it doesn’t harden up too much.

1. You can serve this vinegar syrup with grilled fish,  grilled chicken, or with a steak. A little bit of glaze over a salmon gives you a sweet, and sour flavor.

2. By adding the sherry vinegar syrup to some vanilla ice cream, and strawberries you can make your dessert more delicious, and unique.

3. You can also use sherry vinegar for roasted or grilled vegetables, as this will help to bring out all of the flavors.

A simple side dish with grilled zucchini, and sherry vinegar is a healthy and perfect snack for any season.
