Some don’t like Amazon for political reasons. Others use the service as their go-to retailer. But the fact is, if Amazon doesn’t have it, you probably don’t need it.

When you need that toaster or pair of curtains, you can usually find a great selection at low prices. But are there ways to save even more money? Here are 11 ways to save.

1. Today’s Deals

Today’s Deals, also known as Gold Box deals, have everyday items and possible gift ideas on sale. From pool shock and a smart plug to action-packed toys and fire tablets, you never know what will show up.
If you have a gift to purchase and are unsure what you want, this is an ideal way to shop and save money.

2. Amazon Outlet Sells Excess Items

Dovetailing on the Amazon Deals page, Amazon Outlet is like a discount store, or a clearance page for Amazon. You’ll find name brands like UGG and Adidas. The items may be out of season, but if you don’t mind, you may be able to find some great deals.

3. Amazon Price-Checking Websites

There are third-party websites that will do Amazon price checking for you. They include Camelcamelcamel. You can set this up to provide info via email or Twitter.
Capital One Shopping, Honey, and RetailMeNot’s Deal Finder can be added to your browser and display deals before you buy. When you go to purchase on Amazon, the offer pops up in the window.
Other websites that can help you save include Price Grabber and the app Shop Savvy.

4. Clip Coupons and Save

Amazon has its own coupons. You can save on items anywhere from $2 on Bounty towels to 25 percent on a wireless charger station. The coupons change daily, so you'll need to check. Just click on the coupon, and the discount will be automatically taken at checkout. If you’re purchasing an item, always check the coupon page to see if you can receive additional savings.

5. Make a Wish List and Check It

Let’s say you found a specific item you’re interested in, but it’s a little high priced, and you’re not sure it’s exactly what you want. If you don’t want to make the commitment at that moment, put it on your “Wish List.” Be sure to check it periodically. Often Amazon will drop prices on selected items, so you might be able to buy it for a reduced price.

6. Amazon Warehouse Worth a Look

Amazon Warehouse is where you go for deep discounts. But the catch is you must be all right with returned and open-box items. This seems to be the place where all of Amazon’s returns go. Although there’s nothing wrong with them, they are pre-owned.
To find the Amazon Warehouse, go to “All” and scroll down the list—or just use this Amazon link.

7. Lightning Deals Waiting List

Here, you can pick up an item for less than what it usually costs. These are limited quantities that are on sale. They can generally be found on the Today’s Deal Page. You'll also see Lightning Deals scattered throughout the site.
One option available is to join the Lightning Deal Waitlist. This is when a purchase in a customer’s cart isn’t made within 15 minutes. The deal will then be made available to the next person on the waitlist. You'll be notified when a deal is available.

8. Bargains on Amazon’s Woot

Amazon purchased Woot in 2010. This is where you can find limited-time offers and deals. Woot is a site where Amazon sells its excess inventory, so you receive Amazon products at a reduced price. In addition, Amazon Prime members receive free shipping.

9. Trade in Old Tech

You’re able to trade in old tech to Amazon. And the best part is you didn’t have to purchase it from Amazon to be eligible. Some trade-in items include:
  • Wireless routers
  • E-readers
  • Home security devices
  • Speakers
You won’t receive cash back, but you will receive an Amazon code to use for the trade-in amount on new purchases at checkout.

10. Prime Rewards Visa Card

The Prime Rewards Visa Card gives you a $200 gift card upon approval. You can use it at Amazon and Whole Foods for 5 percent back. On Prime Day, members receive 6 percent back. You’ll receive 2 percent at drugstores, gas stations, and restaurants, and 1 percent on other purchases. There’s no annual fee.
Use it to travel; there’s no foreign transaction fees.

11. Prime Shopping for Everyone

It wouldn’t be a list without talking about Amazon’s Prime Membership. Of course, the biggest perk is that most items have free shipping; but you also receive Prime Video and Music.
You can share it in your household. Your spouse and up to four children can be on your plan. It’s the Amazon Household plan. Prime Video is also available to your family members.
For an additional charge, there is Amazon Kids. It’s designed for kids 3–12. It has original content and brands like Disney, Nickelodeon, Marvel, etc. It has parental controls with a dashboard.

Take Advantage of Deals and Programs

Whether you’re using Amazon for that special item or day-to-day purchases, take advantage of the deals. From clipping coupons to outlet prices, there are deals available. So take the time to explore these options and save some money.
