Part-time jobs are in demand for seniors. Some retirees are bored, while others need the money. Regardless of the reason, there’s a lot of work available.

The questions are, what interests you, and what are you qualified to do? Some jobs are done remotely, so you don’t have to leave the house unless you want. From health care to creative endeavors, here are 11 part-time jobs made for retirees.

1) Photographer

If you have a knack with a camera or take great photos with your phone, this might be a great part-time job for you. You could hire yourself out to weddings or parties. All you need is to network or go on social media to advertise yourself.
If that’s not up your alley, sell your photos or videos online. Submit your photos to sites such as iStock, Shutterstock, and Getty. They‘ll post them, and you’ll receive a commission when they sell. The same photo can potentially sell repeatedly.

2) Editor

Editors coordinate and revise written material. They will work with various media, including books, blogs, newspapers, and more.

You‘ll be reviewing articles and providing feedback to authors. Skills that are useful for editors include critical thinking, problem-solving, and familiarity with writing styles. You’ll also need a keen eye and good spelling and grammar skills.

If you want to freelance as an editor, try platforms like Proofed and ProofreedingServices.

3) Transcriptionist

Some industries would be health care, finance, or legal. Podcasters often want their podcasts transcribed. If you want to freelance, two sites you could go to are TranscribMe or Rev.

4) Tutor

Tutoring can be fun and fulfilling. Depending on your skills, you could work in various areas. If you’re excellent at math or English, focus on one of those subjects. If you have retired from a profession such as law enforcement, teach safety courses or driver’s education.
Contact local schools or colleges for opportunities. You could also tutor online. You’d be working with students worldwide. Some tutoring platforms available to work on include Cambly and Preply.

5) Consultant

Regardless of your expertise, there’s probably a company that could use your advice. This is particularly true of businesses that are downsizing and need someone knowledgeable to fill the gaps.
Put the word out through social media or go on platforms such as Upwork to find clients.

6) Customer Service Representative

A customer service representative (CSR) works with companies’ customers. As a CSR, you will handle billing and service questions. You may also handle complaints.

Work will be done through chat, email, or over the phone.

Think of it as a “help desk” job. Many retirees have the experience to work with people, so this job is often a nice fit.

7) Monetize Your Hobbies

Do you have a hobby like woodworking or crocheting? You can turn that into a part-time job. Start with selling your products on platforms such as Etsy. Or you can rent booths at craft fairs.

Another way to monetize your hobby is to teach. Give lessons on crocheting or woodworking. You could teach different skill levels.

By monetizing your hobby, you’ll be doing what you enjoy.

8) Pet Sitter

This one is great for you animal lovers. When people take vacations, they usually need someone to care for their pets. That someone could be you.

Some pet sitters go to the client’s house, while others bring the dog to their house. If you don’t want that kind of commitment and want to keep active, be a dog walker. You'll walk people’s dogs while they’re at work.

There are a couple of ways to attract customers. You can go on Rover or Wag, and they'll help you find business.
