For the woman who makes a house a home, getting recognition from those closest to her means a lot. While it’s nice to celebrate your spouse on their birthday and anniversaries, it’s also important to show her appreciation from time to time
Here are some tips to let the most important person in your life know she matters.
1. Give Her a Chance to Sleep
For many women, working and getting kids ready for school means that they have to get up before they have had enough sleep. Women’s health is more affected by lack of sleep than men, with insufficient time in bed related to a greater risk of depression, heart disease, and diabetes. So whether its the week or the weekend, why not be the first one up and let the lady of the house sleep in?
2. Breakfast in Bed
In the same vein, why not use that early morning time to get breakfast ready for your wife. Even if it’s just a cup of coffee or tea, juice, and some toast, the gesture will go a long way toward making your spouse feel special. If you have kids, get them involved.
3. Go for a Coffee Date
Taking the time to go out for coffee can be very meaningful. Seeing your wife during the day shows that you value your relationship more than the busyness that can often overtake you. It doesn’t have to be very long, but the opportunity to catch up and be together will mean a lot to both of you.
4. Work Out Together
Exercising with your wife can be a great way to keep you healthy as individuals as well as help to keep your relationship healthy. Exercising with a partner not only makes you more efficient in your workout since you are accountable to the other person but it also creates emotional bonds. Studies have also shown that couples who engage in exciting activities like exercising or playing sports together maintain the momentum in their relationship.
5. Do Your Wife’s Chores
Maybe your spouse is usually the one who cooks for the family, gives the kids their baths, or helps in the garden. So, why not try taking over your wife’s role for a day or even a week? Not only will it show care and consideration on your part, but it will also give you a chance to put yourself in her shoes.
6. Do the To-Do List
Maybe the faucet has been leaking in the bathroom sink or the grass in the backyard has started to look ragged. Whatever it is that your wife has asked you to do, crossing it off the list lets her know that you are listening to her. If you keep waiting until the “right time” comes up, it might never happen. As Thomas Jefferson put it, “never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.”
7. Cook Her a Special Dinner
Whether it’s takeout or a home-cooked meal, making sure that you shoulder your share of the cooking burden for the family is a great way to let your wife know how much she means to you. Why not make her favorite dish? And add bonus points for getting the kids to do the dishes. This way she can actually sit back and relax.
8. Give Her Time to Unwind
We all have times where we need to be alone and able to process our thoughts and the day. Making sure your wife has a chance to do this is really important. Simply saying, “I'll do the laundry; you can go sit on the porch with your book,” can give her the time she needs.
9. Take Her to the Spa
Why not block out a few hours or a full day and give your wife the spa day that she has been dreaming of? A massage, relaxing in the steam room, lying by the pool, or simply just the chance to be treated. All of this will help her feel relaxed and special.
10. Make a Day Just for Her
Imagine curating a perfect day for your wife. From morning until the evening, think of all the things that she loves to do, such as the food she likes to eat and the activities that haven’t been ticked on her bucket list. Then surprise her with a full day that fulfills all her needs and interests. This is guaranteed to bring a smile to your spouse’s face and strengthen the bond between you.
