On August 13, 2020, the federal Department of Justice concluded that Yale University illegally discriminates against Asian American and white applicants in undergraduate admissions in violation of Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act—finding that Asian Americans and whites have only one-tenth the likelihood of admission as African-American applicants with comparable academic credentials. This finding of systematic racism against Asian and white applicants follows an extensive two-year investigation that concluded that blacks and Hispanics were given extra unearned SAT and admissions points while Asians and whites had SAT points illegally deducted due to their skin color. Democrats have proposed a November 3, 2020 proposition (Prop. 16) to abolish Proposition 209—which currently prohibits racial preferences (discrimination) in public education/contracting/employment. Asian and white families in California must protect their children and vote against Prop. 16 and for Republicans who want what MLK desired—a colorblind society based on merit, character, and effort (and not intentional discrimination).
