Steve Carell, star of the upcoming comedy film Dinner With Schmucks, expressed his wish to reprise his role in Anchorman 2, despite the second installment of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy facing difficulties.

Paramount Pictures recently rejected director Adam McKay’s request for $60 million. However, “the idea was shelved” by Paramount after they refused to fulfill the director’s request for $60 million, reported Hollywood.com.

Plans were being made for the filming of Anchorman 2, which would have brought Carrell, Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd together to the silver screen once again—with all the expected antics and follies. Rudd is also co-starring with Carell in Dinner.

Carell lamented Paramount’s decision and said, “I selfishly want to do it again just for the fun of it. And I think it could be as playful and as fun as the original.”

Carell recently lent his voice to Universal Studios animated feature Despicable Me.
