You have succinctly described six desperate situations we now face as the result of poor, if not bad, policy decisions. You have made clear the direct link of cause and effect, in your article “Why Would Anyone Vote for This?” [published in the Oct. 4–10 edition].
Your question is relevant and revealing. It is hard to imagine that anyone who does see the cause-and-effect link would vote for this. But here we are, because more than half of the population (arguably) already did vote for this. There had to be something they believed they were voting for, or perhaps voting against. Either way, they did what they did, and some are likely to vote the same way in the next election.
Will enough of them acknowledge the need for a different approach? Or are we destined for another term, or more, of these policies? This is truly a choice that will define this nation for the next generation, or longer.
