Jim Carrey introducing the Black Keys on SNL This past weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL) with host Jim Carrey and musical guest The Black Keys drew in big numbers for the late-night television show, averaging a 7.8 household rating, SNL’s best since their episode on May 8, 2010 featuring Betty White and musical guest Jay-Z.
On Jan. 8’s show, actor and comedian Jim Carrey teamed up with SNL cast members in a number of skits, including a spoof on the much talked-about psychological thriller “The Black Swan.”
The show also took a jab at New York City’s failed clean-up of the recent snowstorm, as Fred Armisen played mayor Michael R. Bloomberg delivering a fireside chat to New Yorkers.
On Weekend Update, SNL members Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig made fun of the recent shift to the right on Capitol Hill by playing new House Speaker John Beohner and his predecessor Nancy Pelosi.
Blues-rock band The Black Keys were the musical guests and performed “Howlin’ For You” and “Tighten Up” off their latest album “Brothers.”
The recent SNL episode averaged a 5.4 household rating for adults between 18 to 49 years old, their highest since their November 1, 2008 episode hosted by Ben Affleck and with a guest appearance by then-presidential candidate John McCain.
