Years ago, I watched a Senate hearing called by Sen. Dan Burton, whose 3-year-old granddaughter was suffering with autism. Sen. Burton was of the valid opinion that the reason so many children were diagnosed with autism was that they were damaged by the vaccination program at the time.
There was equal representation testifying on both sides of the issue.
Barbara Loe Fisher, whose son was injured by a vaccination, had written a book I had read called “A Shot in the Dark” about the dangers of the DPT shot. Since then, Robert F. Kennedy’s Children’s Health Defense organization has taken on that mantle as well.
In the piece [“UK Autism Cases Rose 787 Percent From 1998 to 2018: Study” by Nathan Worcester, published on Sept. 29], the discussion about the reasons for the increase in autism cases included everything but the possibility of vaccinations being the culprit … especially in the number each child receives today.
There is a lot of talk in today’s world espousing “trusting the science.” I don’t see it happening with the issue of the possible connection between autism and vaccinations.
