Claudine Keats, a marketing director for medical device company BD-Canada, attended the performance with her son as a gift from her father, who had seen Shen Yun himself.
“It was spiritual, it was exciting. There was history, it was just amazing,” she said.
New York-based Shen Yun, the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, has a mission to revive China’s 5,000 years of traditional culture before it was systematically dismantled under communism.During the performance, the emcees explained that in ancient China, music was the first medicine.
“To me, that was very spiritual. And then of course, the spirituality of [the actors] going up into the heavens and coming back onto Earth,” she said.
For her, Shen Yun’s overall message is one of perseverance.
“I would recommend it hands down,” she said. “It’s going to come back next year. I will be in line to get the tickets next year as well. Really, a phenomenal experience for anybody, no matter what the age.”
