San Francisco will host Shen Yun Performing Arts as they present the revival of traditional Chinese culture from Jan. 2 through Jan. 5. Shen Yun will present an all-new production once again at the War Memorial Opera House.
The New York-based performing arts company has become popular the world over since its inception in 2006, and San Francisco is no exception.
Many who attended Shen Yun last year noted that the performance highlighted China before communism.
Human rights activist and civil rights defender François Cavard said, Shen Yun “is the best promoter of the true soul of China and what the Chinese people are really made of.”
“[Shen Yun] is really inspiring,” she said.
The profound depth of traditional Chinese culture surprised Domenico Di Mola.
“[Shen Yun] is a good call back for thinking about our relationship with ourselves, something that’s not material that we can own or buy, but rather, something that we can enjoy, share, and give us a broader purpose for why we are here,” Di Mola said.
Jody Lorns liked Shen Yun’s freedom of expression. “I liked the spiritual message. I respect the passion behind it and the folks that want to break away from the communist party to be able to express the freedom that we have here in the United States.”
This year, Shen Yun is set to perform in over 200 cities around the world and across five continents, the 2025 touring season is shaping up to be the artists’ busiest yet and a glorious treat for theatergoers.
