ATLANTA—Shen Yun Performing Arts performed its all-new production at the Atlanta Symphony Hall. A group of friends enjoyed the matinee performance on Dec. 27.
Lisa Cochran, a realtor, loved the women’s classical dance. “It was just seamless. It was beautiful. Yes, powerful, beautiful, seamless.”
Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. Based in New York, its artists are dedicated to reviving China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture.
Jerry Krieger, an author of history novels, said he liked how the dancing flowed. “I just think the choreography, and the costumes and the colors with those sleeves—they kind of flow—just kind of hypnotic. It would just put you in a trance, it’s just a complete show.”
Presenting a brand-new set of dance pieces, musical compositions, and solo performances each season, the company takes its audience on a journey through time and space to rediscover the beauty and traditional values of pre-communist China.
He also appreciated the animated backdrop that brings the stories to life. “I noticed a copyrighted patent on [the backdrop. So, I’m trying to figure out what they were. What they patented is when they jumped on the screen. I don’t know what it was. I think the screen was nice.”
Ms. Cochran also liked the screen. “I thought the backdrop was pretty neat as far as how it can integrate the human life versus the technology life.”
John Strain, who works in emergency rooms, is a reservist in the Army and a colonel, said, “I think it’s just peaceful and it just calm. Not as much spiritual, as just calm, meditative.”
Systems Engineer Loves Shen Yun’s Life Orchestra
Eddie Dillard, Director of Systems Engineering for an IT department, has come to see Shen Yun for 8 years. He came “just to see the new production, the new acts. We just really enjoyed the performances.”
Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. Based in New York, its artists are dedicated to reviving China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture.
The dancers he described as “elegant, acrobatic, fluid. Almost like a ballerina.” With his background in IT, he said of the production values: “It’s incredible the way you transitioned from the person to animation and back again.”
He sat close to the front to enjoy the live orchestra. “Oh, fantastic! I think last year we were sitting at the front row, so we love live orchestra. Can’t beat that.”
Mr. Dillard responded to Shen Yun’s spiritual message after seeing Shen Yun so many times. He saw some parallels with his personal beliefs: Especially compared to America, you guys are living more to morality, decency.”
