Tender moments emerged from the Holy Fire of firefighters from the Los Padres National Forest making a difference and saving the life of a baby deer suffering from heat exhaustion and dehydration.

As firefighters from the Los Padres National Forest courageously battled the massive Holy Fire that had been sprawling across Orange and Riverside counties in southern California, they stumbled upon an emaciated baby deer in need of assistance.

The baby deer was clearly suffering from heat exhaustion and dehydration.

Rather than ignoring the little animal, the firefighters paused to lend the fawn a hand.

The firefighters tenderly gave the fawn lying on the ground a much-needed drink of water and helped her get back on her hooves.

These heartwarming moments captured on camera were posted on the U.S. Forest Service - Cleveland National Forest Facebook page.

The post went viral, receiving more than 14,000 reactions, with many applauding the firefighters for their good work.

“God bless all of the men and women firefighters who have kept us all safe and out of harms way and this sweet baby deer. Your humanity and selflessness keeps me in awe of who you are and the amazing work you have done here,” one Facebook user wrote.

Another commented: “So touching. You men aren’t just brave but also so sweet, kind and tender. Keep on staying safe! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

“All my life I knew firefighters were there to fight fires and I respected that. But until they fought a fire in my neck of the woods, my eyes saw up close what they had to endure to keep us safe. It has forever changed my perspective of what true heroism is,” wrote another.

It’s moving to see how the heroic firefighters put their lives on the line to save homes, people, and wild animals. Their dedication and compassion is honorable.

Thank you to all the firefighters out there for all that you do to keep us safe.
