When this miniature silver dapple horse arrived at an equine rescue sanctuary, he was in bad shape, but a friendly golden retriever made sure he felt welcomed, and the pair quickly developed a bond.
Animal control collected an emaciated miniature horse wandering in South Carolina and gave it to the Carolina Equine Rescue and Assistance (CERA) to see if there was any hope it could make a comeback.
The vet replied “yes,” and so it came to be that the horse—who became known as Sammy—went to CERA.
When Sammy arrived at the South Carolina shelter, he was fed, bathed, and dewormed.
In the evening, Molly, a 3-year-old golden retriever, visited Sammy’s stall and a heartwarming moment between the two animals nuzzling each other was captured on video by Kindle.
“I have to tell all of you never in a million years did I expect this little video to have so much popularity,” Darlene wrote.
“Molly truly has an exceptional sense of knowing when one of the animals doesn’t feel good or sad,” she shared. “So she very gently introduces herself. This is her job and she is very good at it as you can see.”
Sammy is now thriving in his new environment and is starting to gain weight.
With a good friend like Molly and a kindhearted carer like Kindle, this is one little horse who has gained a new lease on life.
