For any sportsman (or sportswoman) who enjoys the outdoors, they know that being out in the natural wild is as much the fun of it as the sporting aspect itself. The sights, smells, the sun, the moisture in the air, the dew on the ground, the breeze—all things that turn on our natural instincts and remind us that we are alive. It’s a truly beautiful experience.

Some time just before Christmas, a young lady hunter was privileged to witness a unique gem of the wild from her perch in a tree, in the woods, somewhere in Middle Tennessee. A rare albino white-tail male deer tread across the leaf-covered forest floor down below her.

The woman, Amy Henderson Hall, observed the pure-white 12-point buck for around 30 minutes as he moved about, grazing in the sun-dappled woodlands. She was awestruck.

Hall also managed to capture the unique creature on video. She later explained that the deer was known to inhabit the Brentwood and Nolensville areas of Williamson County.

With her footage, Hall took to her blog page, where she shared her precious encounter with the whole world. “He was marvelous,” she wrote. “He hung out with me for about 30 minutes. He couldn’t hear. Nothing spooked him at all. Getting so close to an albino was a once in a lifetime thing. It made me tear up a bit. Just special.”

Hall described it as a “once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

As a lawful sportswoman, Hall also wanted to take the opportunity to let others know that shooting an albino deer is illegal. Far from being tempted to shoot the animal, Hall was left in tears and forever grateful for the beautiful encounter.

According to Protect the White Deer, the chances of an albino deer being born are incredibly rare, ranging anywhere from between 1 in 20,000 to 1 in 100,000 births.

So, should you happen upon such a magical creature as this in your lifetime, you may certainly count yourself blessed!
