Dalmatians easily stand out among other dog breeds due to their distinctive white coat and eye-catching  black spots. But it’s even more so in the case of Wiley, a Dalmatian who wears a heart on his nose. His special features have charmed over 136,000 followers on Instagram.

Enchanted by the movie 101 Dalmatians since she was a little girl, Lexi Smith, of Denver, Colorado, always dreamed of owning a Dalmatian herself.

In March 2018, Smith turned her dream into reality when she chose Wiley, a Dalmatian pup who made his way from Oklahoma to Colorado.

It was “love at first sight” when Smith met Wiley. She “nearly cried tears of joy” as the Dalmatian was handed to her.

“He was so tiny and absolutely adorable and he curled up and snuggled into my arms immediately,” Smith told Caters News.

The then-tiny Wiley hadn’t yet fully formed a heart-shaped black spot around his nose. Despite that, out of his 10 other siblings—eight of whom were boys—Smith liked him the most.

“I got first pick of the litter and honestly, the heart nose was not the main deciding factor,” Smith said. “I saw it immediately but it was not fully formed and part of it was detached in another spot, so I didn’t even know if it would last.”

Smith was apparently attracted to the Dalmatian’s sweet temperament.

“I chose him because I was told he was the sweetest with the best personality,” Smith mentioned.

“I wanted a snuggle bug and that’s what I got!”

For Smith, “the heart nose is just a bonus.”

In addition, Smith picked Wiley because the breeder told her that all he did was sleep, snuggle, and eat! “We already had a lot in common,” Smith said, in an interview with Bored Panda.
According to PEOPLE, Smith mentioned that to find a suitable name for Wiley was quite a task.

The owner went through a list of names and only found the perfect one when she was visiting her parents in Greeley, Colorado.

The heart-shape mark on Wiley’s nose was perfectly formed when he was 6 weeks old, as per PEOPLE. With his attractive heart-shaped nose, Wiley effortlessly rose to internet fame as Smith started documenting his growth on Instagram (@hi.wiley).

“Photography has always been something that I have toyed and experimented with, and suddenly I had an adorable puppy who made the perfect model,” Smith said.

Within just a month, Wiley captured the hearts of 20,000 followers on Instagram, according to Mail Online. A year later, in March 2019, the famed Dalmatian acquired more than 136,000 fans.

“I never in a million years could have imagined it would be what it is now. And it’s STILL GROWING. I am constantly amazed, shocked, but mostly so grateful,” Smith said.

To Smith, Wiley is “goofy, clumsy, sassy, hungry, cuddly, curious, wild, crazy, silly, happy love.” Speaking to Bored Panda, she said the dalmatian puppy is as sweet in real life as he is in his adorable pictures.

“No amount of pictures on could ever fully capture all that he is,” Smith said.

“He is a total sweetheart. He can never get enough attention or snuggles and needs to be right on top of you when he naps.”

Netizens can’t seem to get enough of this one-year-old pup and adore his one-of-a-kind heart nose. Passers-by also love to catch sight of this beautiful pup.

“It blows everyone away when they see him,” Smith said.

“Usually people just stop me because nobody can resist a puppy, but when they notice the heart nose, they go crazy,” she continued.

With his loving personality, Wiley enjoys every bit of the attention he gets. The friendly Dalmatian runs up to people’s laps and wags not just his tail but his entire back in delight.

Wiley is not always sweet though. He’s a stubborn Dalmatian, who will grunt and scoff at Smith if he doesn’t get what he desires.

“Wiley’s truest dalmatian traits are constantly making me laugh. Usually, it’s a giggle paired with shaking my head, laughing off total frustration from his stubbornness, but that’s part of owning the breed,” Smith said.

In spite of his attitude, Smith cherishes Wiley all the same.

The pair have been inseparable, hiking mountains and exploring dog parks and beautiful spaces around Colorado.

“He also enjoys car rides and sits where he can look out the front window like a true copilot. But when he gets sleepy, he really, really LOOOOVES to snuggle,” Smith said.

Above all, Smith loves Wiley for his beautiful heart.

“He has the best heart, and I’m not talking about the one on his nose,” Smith said.

“He has been relatively easy to train and has made the best little adventure partner I could ask for. He requires so much attention and he’s basically attached to my hip, but that’s what I love about him,” she shared.

Smith admitted Wiley is used to getting his way around in life, “because nobody, especially me, can resist him.”

As for Wiley’s future, Smith once said, “[I want] to have fun together and continue to let him be a puppy. We are just going to keep enjoying life and hopefully bring more smiles to peoples’ faces.”

From a look at his pictures, Wiley’s cuteness is definitely irresistible! Undeniably, not many can beat Wiley’s uniqueness and charm, for that matter, not even the 101 Dalmatians.
