With Liberty Island and the Statue of Liberty back in business beginning on July 4, all eyes are on Ellis Island to see when it will be fully operational. National Parks Service representatives will know by September when the opening date may be.
Liberty Island, on which sits the Statue of Liberty, reopened on July 4, the first time since Superstorm Sandy. Flags were waved, ribbons cut, and speeches made. It was a joyous occasion, but, as David Luchsinger, Superintendent of the Statue of Liberty, pointed out, it is the third reopening of at least some part of the Statue since 2009.

Fields, a pianist who performs at the upscale Italian restaurant near Columbus Circle six days a week, has incredible vigor for his age. The owner, Nino Selimaj, tries to convince him to take time off, but his response is the same each time.
This year, the event will be directed by Grammy-award winning R&B singer, Usher, naming the show “It began with a Spark”. Also, it will feature celebrities Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Tim Mcgraw, and Nick Cannon.
Like every year, Macy’s Fireworks Spectacular 2013 will light up above the Hudson River, attracting a few million people annually. There will be more than 40,000 fireworks in the 25-minute showcase.
The entertainment will be broadcasted by NBC at 8pm EST.
