Long before humans became enamored with domesticated animals, they fell in love with horses.

Secretariat, the film about the horse that won the Triple Crown 30 years ago, got the thumbs-up from the original jockey.

Secretariat may be about a horse, but it is actress Diane Lane who steals the show in the movie.

“Secretariat,” an upcoming movie about the 1973 Triple Crown-winning horse and its owner, will open in theaters on Oct. 8. In a recent interview, the famous horse’s original owner deemed the film a fairly accurate representation of real-life events.

No horse has made a more lasting impression on the Triple Crown than one big chestnut colt called Secretariat.
