A South African official says Oscar Pistorius has been released from prison and placed under house arrest.

Oscar Pistorius was taken away in a police van with barred windows Tuesday to start serving a five-year prison sentence for killing girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

A cousin of Reeva Steenkamp is testifying for the prosecution at Oscar Pistorius’ sentencing hearing.

The possibility that Oscar Pistorius may go to jail has roused many to ask about prison conditions in South Africa, and specifically how those with physical disabilities fare.

The bail hearing for Oscar Pistorius continued today. This is the third day of the bail hearing for the Paralympic double amputee that shot and killed his girlfriends, Reeva Steenkamp, on Feb. 14

Oscar Pistorius is closer to being charged with pre-meditated murder, as more evidence and more details on the tragic murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, are being presented in court. Testosterone was found in Pistorius’s home and a witness at the scene is being questioned.
