Last weekend’s Big Apple Barbecue Block Party, like every year, receives tons of fans and barbecue lovers, who while in long lines exchange tips for the best ’cue.
Nothing says summer like barbecue. The 12th annual Big Apple Barbecue is set to take place in Madison Square Park on June 7 and 8 and will showcase 17 of the country’s top barbecue experts.
A new post office opened near Madison Square Park on May 20. The new location is called the Greeley Square Post Office and is located on 27th Street between Broadway and Fifth Avenue.
Spring’s sunnier climes have come right on time to accompany the opening of Mad. Sq. Eats, held for the 10th time, just outside of Madison Square Park. If you haven’t been there yet, make haste before the end of May.
For those who can’t make it to the Arthur Ashe Stadium to watch the U.S. Open tennis tournament, Madison Square Park will host live screenings of the quarterfinal, semifinal, and final matches from Sept. 6–9.
Celebrated sculptor Leo Villareal will debut his next masterpiece, “BUCKYBALL,” in Madison Square Park this fall. The 30-foot-tall piece will illuminate the park with a brightly colored depiction of a giant carbon-60 molecule.
Madison Square Park transformed into a deluxe barbecue center over the weekend. Rows of tents and smokey grills, with top southern chefs from around the country, filled the streets surrounding the park.
