MINNEAPOLIS—Shen Yun Performing Arts, the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, returns to Minnesota to delight audiences at the Orpheum Theatre, Feb. 22-23, 2013.
Shen Yun is restoring a lost treasure, 5,000 years of divinely inspired civilization, through traditional forms of dance, music, and song, along with backdrop scenes created by digital projections to inspire audiences around the world.
Wherever Shen Yun performs, VIPs honor the New York-based company with proclamations and letters of welcome, congratulating and praising it. Minnesota VIPs were no exception, expressing their gratitude and encouragement with 14 such documents.
In his welcome letter, US Senator Al Franken welcomes Shen Yun’s artists and said, “This performance represents a high level of art, one which transcends entertainment. A performance that is able to convey those common beauties of all humanity while simultaneously reminding us of its diverse expressions is no small accomplishment, yet the Shen Yun performance does this with a seemingly effortless grace. It has never ceased to amaze me. I wish to offer my support for this culturally rich event.”
Hardy Welcome for Shen Yun’s Return
Since Shen Yun’s first worldwide tour began, the Twin City metro area has had the pleasure of seeing its new dances, backdrops, costumes and music each year with the exception of one.
Mayor Christopher B. Coleman states, “On behalf of the City of St. Paul, it is my great pleasure to welcome Shen Yun back to the Twin Cities.” He notes that the company had presented classical Chinese culture to Minnesotans for six years and expressed his pleasure at Shen Yun’s return.

Classical Chinese Culture Displayed

A Lost Culture Comes Alive Though Shen Yun

Kirk C. Allison, Director, Program in Human Rights and Health, University of Minnesota, praises Shen Yun and called their presentation of classical Chinese culture, “A generosity of spirit, as evident in the performances of Shen Yun.”
