ST. LOUIS—As the warmth of spring gently sweeps away the remnants of winter, warm accolades welcome Shen Yun Performing Arts to the Peabody Opera House.
Wherever Shen Yun performs, public officials at the federal, state, and local levels honor the New York-based company with proclamations and letters of welcome, congratulating and praising it. Missouri officials were no exception, expressing their gratitude and encouragement.
In her letter of welcome, St. Louis Mayor Francis G. Slay wrote, “New York-based Shen Yun is a magnificent production featuring classical Chinese dancers, gorgeous costumes and massive animated backdrops that come together for a performance that audiences will long remember.”
Classical Chinese dance is one way in which 5,000 years of Chinese culture has been passed down and retained. Shen Yun, the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company travels the world on a mission to revive this culture which was nearly destroyed.
U.S. Senator Roy Blunt called Shen Yun “an incredible display of talent and vision” and thanked the company for returning to St. Louis.
U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill expressed her delight at the company’s return and wrote, “It is truly an honor to have this internationally recognized performance return to St. Louis.”
Shen Yun’s well attended performances have thrilled over one million audience members world-wide, and are always presented at the finest theaters. In her letter of welcome, U.S. Congresswoman Ann Wagner noted this, and said, “I am thrilled that a performance of this caliber is available to the St. Louis area.”
Noting the depth and richness of the performances she said the show was a “reflection of China’s rich culture of grace, wisdom and honor.”
Lewis E. Reed, President St. Louis Board of Aldermen called it, “An honor to welcome Shen Yun to the Peabody Opera House and St. Louis.”
He encouraged St. Louis residents to come and enjoy the world-renowned show and said, “It is my hope that the people of St. Louis are able to experience this performance rooted in 5000 years of Chinese culture and heritage.”
