A 25-year-old man picked the wrong Washington house to attempt a burglary.

Police say an 80-year-old woman called 911 at around 8:30 p.m., stating she had “shot an intruder after he broke into her home and stabbed her husband.”

The woman and the couple’s 45-year-old son, did not sustain any injuries—the intruder, however, died at the scene.

The woman’s husband was flown to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center after being stabbed several times in the abdomen. He was listed under stable condition.

“At this time, detectives do not believe the suspect was known to the residents of the home and that this was an attempted home burglary,” a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said through Pix11.

The intruder’s identity will be released by the county’s medical examiner.
