Giving your home a red, white, and blue makeover can be a great way to show your patriotic spirit any time of the year, but of course, it’s especially appropriate around the 4th of July.

Stars and stripes are obvious details, but if you’re looking for a more subtle way to pay tribute to this holiday, look for ways to incorporate various shades of red, white, and blue.

Here’s how you can bring some Independence Day colors into your home.

Furniture

Purchasing new furniture for your red, white, and blue theme might leave you seeing stars! Fortunately though, you don’t need to splurge on new sofas to show your love of the season. Slipcovers in patriotic colors can work just as well to add a patriotic flair to your home. If you are in the market for new furniture though, you may want to pass on the flag-inspired upholstery. Consider choosing a set that is a solid color –one that will still fit the theme of your house once the festivities are done.

Décor

It may be tempting to indulge in star-shaped décor, flag-printed textiles, and other various props –but take care! It’s easy to go overboard with detailed décor. Look for simple features to help balance the look out. A white vase with blue flowers, red tin lanterns, or white pillar candles are simple, yet effective elements that can help you to subtly celebrate the season. Sprinkling these things in alongside the patriotic designs will help pull your theme together in style.

Textiles

Red, white, and blue textiles are a simple way to bring some color to your space, and make things pop! Toss pillows, slipcovers, throws, and curtains in a patriotic color scheme can help you to pull the room together and give it that patriotic feel that you are looking for.

How are you planning to celebrate the 4th?
