HONG KONG—The top three teams in the Hong Kong Football Union Premiership all won their matches in Round 11 of this 15 Round competition but Leighton Asia HKCC edged further ahead of second place rivals Bloomberg HK Scottish by securing a bonus point victory against NATIXIS HKFC last Saturday Jan 10, 2015.
HKCC proved too strong for HKFC securing 5-tries in their 38-14 win at Sports Road to take their standings points tally to 42 from 11 matches. HKCC held a commanding 24-7 lead at half time. Try scorers for HKCC were Bradley Raper (2), Liam Slatem, Conor Hartley and Danny Atamu.
In the two matches at King’s Park Societe Generale Valley defeated Abacus Kowloon 25-0 while Bloomberg HK Scottish continued their successful season with a 3-try, 26-10 defeat of Borrelli Walsh USRC Tigers leaving HK Scottish 2-points behind the leaders. Valley, with tries by Matt Rosslee, Dave Vainqueur and Salom Yiu Kam-shing left them short of a bonus point win and 7-points behind HK Scottish in the Standings.
There is no change in the bottom half of the table as HKFC, Kowloon and the Tigers all lost without adding bonus points as the score differences were more than seven points in each match. HKFC still have an important 6-point cushion in 4th place ahead of Kowloon and have a chance to improve on this as they play bottom of the table Tigers next week while Kowloon meet Premiership leaders HKCC.
Next Fixtures
Next week (Round 12) is the second Super Saturday of the season, this time at HKFC where all teams gather for a full afternoon of Rugby. This will be kicked off with a match between Kowloon and HKCC at 3.00pm, followed by Valley against HK Scottish at 4.45pm and concludes with HKFC against USRC Tigers at 6.30pm. Premiership-wise the predominant interest will be to see if Valley can close the gap on HK Scottish and at the same time wrestle the Broony Quaich Trophy out of the grasp of HK Scottish.
