Successful LPGA golfer Erica Blasberg died unexpectedly while preparing to travel to a golf tournament in Alabama on Sunday. She was only 25 years old.
Blasberg’s agent confirmed her death saying that she had packed her bags and was anticipating an upcoming golf event in Alabama but she never left Arizona. Authorities have not released any information on the suspected cause of her death. Toxicology reports could take four to six weeks to produce before there is substantial evidence to move forward on the case, reported the Associated Press.
Blasberg’s agent Chase Callahan commented on the limited information surrounding the golfer’s death and aired his grievances to the press.
“We don’t know yet who, what or why. For Mr. and Mrs. Blasberg, her taking her own life is not something that’s in the details that they know right now,” Callahan told the Associated Press.
Police found Blasberg’s body in her apartment less than 20 miles from Las Vegas Sunday. The young and promising golfer was lined up for qualification rounds in the Bell Micro LPGA Classic in Mobile but never made it.
A 911 call on Sunday is what brought police to Blasberg’s home but there has not been any word if she entertained guests on the weekend of her death.
Preparations for Blasberg’s funeral service are being made by her parents and her agent. No dates or specific information have been released at this time.
