Staging is an excellent way to help a home to sell faster.
The goal of staging is to make your home appealing to a wide range of tastes. It’s all about helping the potential buyers to be able to envision themselves there.
Unfortunately, family photos make it difficult for potential buyers to see themselves in the home. While you obviously love your family photos, having too many personal items in a home can serve as a distraction for buyers. If a room is already filled with other people’s mementos and personal memories, it will be harder for the buyers to imaging themselves in the home.
Taking down the family photos doesn’t mean making the walls absolutely bare. After all, your goal is to design a space that’s attractive and appealing –not to recreate a sterile environment. Instead of using personalized, family photos, consider dressing up the walls with these alternatives:
Artwork
Artwork is a great way to add a touch of style to a room. Art will help potential buyers to feel drawn to a space and be able to envision themselves living there. Choose a few pieces of art that are simple, tasteful, and in line with the room’s design style. Abstract or contemporary art is usually a great option –depending on the style of the home.
Mirrors
Mirrors are the perfect wall accessory when staging a home. Mirrors reflect the light, making a room feel brighter, and more spacious and open. Small spaces especially can benefit from the addition of a mirror.
Wall Accessories
Other wall accessories include sconces, as well as contemporary wall hangings –like this piece: Kaleidoscope Contemporary wall art. Again, choose a wall accessory in a style that will complement the overall décor style in the room. And when it doubt, keep in mind that simpler –is often better. What about you?
