While an often-overlooked part of home staging, adding a ’men’s only' room to a house can help it to appeal to your buyers.
Adding in a man cave doesn’t have to be expensive. With a few simple tricks, you can easily transform your space into a getaway that your prospective buyers can envision themselves in. Here are some tips to help you create a space in your house that’s sure to impress.
Décor
Décor for the man cave should be fun, functional, and to-the-point. This isn’t the place for elaborate details or soft floral prints! Opt for sports themed art, or garage style details. Leave a few board games, like a high-quality backgammon or chess set sitting around. A neon sign on the wall can help to complete the look. Or opt for a neatly stacked pile of classic books –depending on the style of the room you go with. As when staging any room in the house, less is often more. A few carefully chosen pieces should be more than adequate.
Furniture
Even if you don’t plan to sell the house furnished, you could still include a few basic pieces when staging to help your potential buyers envision themselves there. The TV is usually one of the main features in any man cave, so consider leaving a TV to show where it could go. Leather furniture, comfortable reclining chairs, or even some simple throws in corduroy or flannel can also add a masculine touch to a room.
Colors
Colors such as grays, blacks, or browns are excellent colors for the man cave. You could accent with metallic colors for an inviting yet luxurious feel, or opt for brighter, more fun colors like orange, blues, and reds for a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
