Nerves abound on a couple’s wedding day, and for good reason. More often than not, the couple (and their families) have spent months preparing for the ceremony, and their big day is the culmination of so much love, effort, and expectation.
On top of all of that, for Neil and Tricia Swan, their wedding day entailed an extra surprise that neither saw coming!
The beautiful bride chose her dress, and her groom-to-be, Neil, chose his suit. Guests were invited, caterers were booked, and the church was decorated tastefully.
As the special day rolled around, Tricia walked up the aisle to meet the love of her life, and the priest began the ceremony. As the priest sang the first few words of the well-known hymn “How Great Thou Art,” just as Neil and Tricia expected, the gathered crowd looked on appreciatively.
But then something unexpected happened.
Tricia’s friend Gavin had been concocting a slightly less-than-traditional segue all along. Suddenly, moments into the priest’s rendition of the hymn, a voice piped up from the back of the church. Was somebody really interrupting this beautiful moment? Was there disaster afoot?
No, this was all part of the plan.
A flash mob descended! The bride and groom’s loved ones stood from their seats on the church pews, and slowly but surely, a choir of strong male voices amassed. Following them, a number of the female guests stood up and added their beautiful alto tones to the mix!
The whole flash mob choir then walked to the front of the church and continued their amazing surprise rendition of the song in perfect harmony. By now, as you may have guessed, the bride and groom were in tears.
Gavin did an incredible job; judging from the reactions of the other wedding guests, he managed to keep the flash mob a secret the whole time! Heads turned, audible gasps escaped, and phones were whipped out to capture the magic.
“Huge congratulations to Tricia & Neil Swan who married yesterday in Kincasslagh,” the videographer shared on his social media page. “What a surprise this flash mob was. Very well organised by Gavin, along with Father Pat and Daniel, and Majella too.”
“It certainly was emotional,” Barr added, speaking for everybody. “Left a few people in tears and had the crowd on their feet at the end!”
This heartwarming video surely represents a moment that the bride and groom will never forget. It’s not every day that an interrupted wedding ceremony brings tears of joy! Share this beautiful showcase of song and devotion with somebody you love.
There’s nothing like a flash mob to brighten up someone’s day!
