Hogar Dulce Hogar is Spanish for “home, sweet home.” It’s also a Basque bakery, whose other location is in Donastia, San Sebastián.

The bakery carries Spanish specialties such as torrijas, a sort of French toast but in the Spanish style, and huevos rotos, or “broken eggs,” a homey dish of fried eggs over potatoes, served in a skillet, and topped with jamón ibérico.

“We didn’t want to bring a cookie-cutter bakery to one of the top culinary capitals in the world,” said concept creator Miguel Blanco in a statement. “Instead we wanted to bring a unique and homey environment with magnificent food and service, with a European twist.”

“Freshness and simplicity are at the heart of the cafe’s philosophy,” added manager Gonzalo Cabrera.
