Worried Mother Goes to School With Son to Make Sure He Behaves in Class

A mother from southeast England joined her son in school because he was allegedly misbehaving in class on Sept. 20.

Kent local Becky Crandley, 30, claims she helped her eighth-grade son Harley, 12, behave himself well in math class by sitting next to him for the entire lesson at Sittingbourne Community College, 49 miles east of downtown London.

The boy was unaware his mother would be joining him and appeared to be very embarrassed after she was introduced as Harley’s mom.

“If only I got a picture of his face when I walked in and sat down next to him, he went so red there’s nothing I can compare it to,” Crandley said in a Facebook post that has since been removed according to KentLive.

Since school resumed in September, the mother had threatened to attend class with him if there was still no obvious improvement in his behavior, prompting the mother to resort to more drastic measures.

“It all started last year with his behavior change, it’s part of growing up I think but it’s his rudeness and disrespect I cannot stand,” she told KentLive. “I have had phone call after phone call about his behavior. He’s had an untold amount of detentions and isolations but nothing seemed to bother him.”

Crandley finally dropped in on the class after receiving emails from her son’s math teacher about two alleged incidents where he was being rude to teachers. The school agreed to allow the mother to join the math class that started at 2 p.m. local time.

After joining her son, Crandley posted a photo of herself with Harley to social media, explaining she was not usually a strict parent and rather fancies herself to be a “big softy.”

“Most people know I’m a big softy when it comes to my kids but I’m also straight up and try my hardest to teach them the right way in life,” Crandley said according to the Mirror. “One thing I will not tolerate is disrespect from my sons towards any woman, and my eldest has been rude recently in secondary school towards his female teachers.”

The mother confirmed the boy’s behavior had crossed the line and it was time for her to intervene by actually attending math class, a threat the boy would often laugh at.

The mother revealed her concern that nowadays children are behaving ever worse and it is up to parents to address their children’s misbehavior.

“It’s scary to think what we will leave behind one day,” she told KentLive.
