A woman from Westfield, Massachusetts, was arrested and charged on Thursday after she allegedly made a false bomb threat against the Boston Children’s Hospital.

The hospital received the threat via phone on Aug. 30, with the caller claiming that “there is a bomb on the way to the hospital, you better evacuate everybody you sickos,” according to a Sept. 15 press release by the Department of Justice (DOJ). The hospital and surrounding areas were put on lockdown and a bomb squad was dispatched. However, no explosive devices were found.

Law enforcement officials linked the caller’s phone number to 37-year-old Catherine Leavy. During a search of her home, officials found the phone used to make the threat.

The woman now faces fines of up to $250,000 and a prison term of up to 10 years. Her detention hearing is scheduled for Sept. 16.

Boston Children’s Hospital has drawn backlash for pushing transgender surgeries for children. According to an archive of the hospital’s webpage detailing the surgery, 17-year-olds were eligible for vaginoplasty.
A video posted to the hospital’s YouTube channel in April talked about “gender-affirming” hysterectomies, according to a Breitbart report. Some hysterectomy procedures involve the removal of ovaries. The video is no longer publicly available.
After the video went viral, the hospital clarified that genital surgeries will only be performed on individuals aged 18 and older. The hospital also modified its webpage, stating that only those who are 18 years old can undergo vaginoplasty.
However, the hospital offers chest surgery for children aged 15 years and above if they fulfill certain conditions, one of them being if they submit a letter from a nurse or a medical doctor stating that they have “persistent, well documented, gender dysphoria.”

Transgender Identity, Banning Trans Surgeries For Minors

In another video, Dr. Jeremi Carswell, the Director of the Gender Multispeciality Service at the hospital, insists that children know that they are transgender “from the moment they have any ability to express themselves.”

She lists actions like refusing a haircut, standing or refusing to stand to urinate, trying on siblings’ clothing, and playing with the toys of the opposite gender as indications of a child possibly being transgender.

According to a Breitbart report, Carswell has received money from Endo Pharmaceuticals—which manufactures puberty blockers—as compensation for consulting on behalf of the company.
In December 2021, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton initiated an investigation into Endo Pharmaceuticals for allegedly advertising puberty blockers for unapproved uses without revealing the potential risks of these drugs to parents or children.

Some Republican states are taking a stand against the promotion of transgenderism among children. Last month, the Florida Board of Medicine voted to move forward with a plan that will bar doctors from providing transgender treatments and puberty blockers to citizens under the age of 18.

Speaking to the board, pediatric endocrinologist Dr. Quentin Van Meter pointed out that countries like the UK, Finland, and Sweden have halted transgender treatment for youths.

“They found that there was far more harm than any benefit in allowing these children to receive any kind of medical intervention,” Van Meter said. “There are approximately 127,000 children throughout the U.S. that are receiving gender-affirming treatment.”
