Former President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, has enrolled in New York University (NYU) for his freshman year of college, his father said.
“He’s a very high aptitude child, but he’s no longer a child. He’s just passed into something beyond child-dom.“ Trump said. ”He’s doing great but he’ll be going to Stern.”
“He liked it. He liked the school. We liked NYU. I’ve known NYU for a long time, but it’s one of the highest rated,” Trump said.
Barron will attend classes at the Stern campus, which is located in downtown Manhattan next to Washington Square Park, a couple of miles away from his childhood home in Trump Tower. It was not clear if he will live on campus or at home.
When asked if the former president has warned Barron about how “nasty” politics can be, Trump said that his 18-year-old son doesn’t have to “hear much” and has “seen it” for himself.
“But he’s, he’s a great guy. He’s a little on the tall side. I will tell you, he’s a tall one, but he is a good looking guy,” Trump said. “He’s really been a great student.”
Barron was 10 when his father became president after the 2016 election. Since then, he’s mostly stayed away from the public eye.
“He does like politics. It’s sort of funny. He’ll tell me sometimes, ‘Dad, this is what you have to do,’” Trump said.
Barron is diverting from the family’s tradition of attending Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where Trump and three of his four children—Ivanka Trump, Tiffany Trump, and Donald Trump Jr.—graduated. Trump said Barron had considered going to Wharton but decided against it.
