Software Developer Runs for Capistrano School Board

Software developer Darin Patel is running for Capistrano School Board in the Nov. 8 election.

“I believe I can bring a refreshing change and be a voice for parents and students by advocating for their needs while also being cognizant of our fiscal responsibility to taxpayers,” Patel, who was unable to be reached for an interview, says in his campaign statement.

Patel claims to have only attended and graduated from schools within Capistrano Unified, and currently has at least one child that attends a district school.

“I have a vested interest in providing a safe learning environment and quality education for all students,” he wrote.

If elected, Patel said his goal is to expand learning opportunities and access to counselors for students in college and technical studies.

As a software developer, he claims to have worked with independent contractors that taught him “transparency and communication are critical to making sure everyone’s voice is heard.”

“If elected to the board, I hope to expand learning opportunities and access to counselors for students in their college and technical studies,” he wrote.

He is running for which includes Hidden Hills, John Malcom, Moulton, George White, and Laguna Niguel elementary schools as well as Dana Hills High School.

Running against him are community college Dean Gary Pritchard and businessman Jim Glantz.
