The San Diego County Fair begins June 7 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and will end with fireworks on July 4.
Its opening ceremony will be at 10:45 a.m. at the O’Brien front gate with a performance by the Hilltop High School Emerald Effect Band and Color Guard. Later that night, the band Train will perform.
Additional performers are comedian Kevin Hart on June 9, Lynyrd Skynyrd on June 17, Bob Marley’s son Stephen Marley on June 24, rapper Nelly on June 28, singer Ellie King on June 29, and Switchfoot on July 3.
Events include art, photography, and school exhibits, petting farms, and wine tasting.
There are also several full-day festivals, including a wine festival June 16, Asian & Pacific Islander Festival June 17, Gospel Festival on June 24, and a Beer Festival on July 1.
On July 4, fireworks will start at 9 p.m. Seats are $20 to $25. Kiss the Sky—a Jimi Hendrix tribute band—will perform.
According to fair organizers, they are still looking to hire hundreds of seasonal workers. Available positions include guest services, ticket sales, exhibits, agriculture, parking and traffic, and administration positions.
Adult tickets are $15 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Mondays; and $20 Friday through Sunday, and on Fourth of July.
Prices for seniors—62 and older—and youth, between 6 and 12—range between $12 and $17. Children under five are free and those between ages 6 and 12 are free on Fridays.
Wednesdays and Thursdays are special Pay-One-Price Ride Days for $49 which allow unlimited rides until 8 p.m. Purchasers can save $4 if bought before June 6 or by getting a $5 coupon off from Pepsi or 7-Eleven.
