County Board of Supervisors District 4
As of Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. incumbent Nathan Fletcher had received 62.8 percent of ballots cast, compared to his opponent, state-licensed investigator Amy Reichert, at 37.2 percent, according to unofficial results from the San Diego Registrar of Voters.The district is home to 675,000 residents over 65,000 acres, including the areas of La Mesa and Mission Valley.
Fletcher is endorsed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom, San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, and the San Diego Democratic Party.
County Board of Supervisors District 5
Incumbent Jim Desmond has thus far received 61.89 percent of the votes, compared to opponent small business owner Tiffany Boyd-Hodgson.The district consists of around 1.3 million acres of North County San Diego, from Camp Pendleton to Borrego Springs, and is home to approximately 700,000 people.
Desmond’s endorsements include the Deputy Sheriffs Association of San Diego, San Diego Farm Bureau, San Diegans Against Crime, and the San Diego Deputy District Attorneys Association.
Sheriff
Current Undersheriff Kelly Martinez leads in the race with 57.07 percent of the votes thus far, compared to opponent former prosecutor John Hemmerling, with 42.93 percent to replace retiring Sheriff Bill Gore.Martinez is endorsed by San Diego County Board of Supervisors Terra Lawson-Remer and Joel Anderson, Former Sheriff Bill Gore, the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of San Diego County, and the San Diego Police Officers Association.
San Diego City Council District 2
Incumbent Councilwoman Jennifer Campbell leads challenger Dr. Linda Lukacs 55.15 percent to 44.85.The district includes the coastal areas of Pacific Beach and Point Loma.
Campbell’s endorsements include San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, Supervisor Nathan Fletcher (District 4), Congressman Mike Levin, San Diego Councilwoman Marni von Wilpert, and the Democratic Party of San Diego County.
San Diego City Council District 4
Incumbent Monica Montgomery Steppe is up for re-election against dietitian Gloria Evangelista and currently leads in the race 66.54 percent to 33.46.The district consists of the southeastern cities of Encanto and Paradise Hills.
Montgomery Steppe is endorsed by County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher, Supervisor Nora Vargas, Assemblyman Chris Ward, and the Democratic Party of San Diego County.
San Diego City Council District 6
The race for District 6 is between Kent Lee, the Executive Director of Pacific Arts Movement, and former radio host Tommy Hough to replace Councilman Chris Cate.Lee currently has 57 percent of votes with Hough at 43 percent.
The district is in North County San Diego, and includes the areas of Mira Mesa and Kearny Mesa.
Lee is endorsed by California Sen. Toni Atkins, San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, and San Diego Councilors Raul Campillo, Sean Elo-Rivera, and Monica Montgomery Steppe, and the Democratic Party of San Diego County.
San Diego City Council District 8
Incumbent Vivian Moreno is running for re-election against congressional community representative Antonio Martinez.Moreno currently has 61.65 percent of votes cast, compared to Martinez with 38.35 percent.
The district is the southernmost in the city and covers the harbor across from Coronado and areas near the U.S.-Mexico border.
Moreno’s endorsements include those from California Senator Toni Atkins, San Diego Councilmember Monica Montgomery, County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher, and Assemblyman Brian Maienschein.
Martinez is endorsed by San Diego County Board of Education Trustee Gregg Robinson, U.S. Rep. Juan Vargas, and National City Vice Mayor Jose Rodriguez.
