Laguna Niguel is celebrating this Christmas season with a home decorating contest and many participants have adorned their houses, condos, and townhomes accordingly.
Hosted by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, judges will determine winners Dec. 13 and 14 based on originality, color, lighting, display, and curb appeal.
A list and map of winning homes will be available to the public on the city’s website starting Dec. 16.
The contest does not include “professionally decorated homes,” according to officials, because the city wants to show off the creativity of amateur decorators.
Awards include Best Light Display, Best Theme, Best Display of Music & Lights, Best Animation, Best of Neighborhood Entry, and “Anything Christmas and a Lot of It.”
Winners will receive a $25 Visa gift card and yard sign to declare their win.
Beyond the contest, the city is also giving children the chance to write a letter to Santa Claus and receive one back until Dec. 16.
Letters can be mailed to “Santa Claus” at 29751 Crown Valley Parkway or dropped off in the “Letters to Santa” box at the Crown Valley Community Center.
