H Mart, the largest Asian supermarket chain in the United States—is opening its newest store in Irvine on Jan. 11.
It is located in Northpark Plaza—an Irvine Company property—taking the place of a recently-closed Albertsons grocery store.
The new 53,000-square-foot supermarket location is the 16th location in California, fifth in Orange County, and third in Irvine.
The store will include a food court with Hangwoman’s Korean dumplings, K-POP Street Food, a Tous les Jours bakery, and much more.
It will have a grand opening at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. The address is 3931 Irvine Boulevard.
The event will feature a smart card sign-up, where new and current members will get a free thermos mug and an H Mart 2023 Calendar while supplies last.
There will also be giveaways with purchases including a melamine tray, rubber gloves, plastic double baskets, and bamboo chopsticks. Those over $30 qualify for one free gift, over $60 qualify for two, and over $100 qualify for three while supplies last.
The new location is also looking for employees to join its team in all departments, including meat, seafood, grocery, produce, and cashiers.
First starting in 1982 in Queens, New York, the grocery chain has grown to over 97 stores across the nation, offering both Asian foods and traditional western groceries and housewares.
