How many things did you pretend to do as a kid?
We’ve certainly all played dress up or played at being a teacher, a princess, or a brave firefighter in our time. Often, our long-suffering parents’ wardrobe (or “dressing-up box” to us) played host to the wreckage of our fantasies. Times have changed, that’s for sure, but the imaginations of children will always and forever leave us awestruck.
They'll also throw us a few giggles along the way, if we’re lucky.
Two little girls from Vietnam have recently proven that kids will always make something out of nothing, and the most unlikely props can provide fodder for games that will entertain them for hours.
The two little girls pictured are absorbed in the process of taking a selfie, or “wefie,” to use the infinitely expanding language of the internet. Somehow, we don’t think this selfie will ever see the light of day, however, as the adorable pair are using their friend’s slip-on shoe as a makeshift “camera.” The result is, quite frankly, hilarious.
The two little girls posing like experts use a Peppa Pig slippers to snap these hilarious shots.
Minh Phương wryly captioned the photo: “When you like to take pictures but you don’t have money to buy a phone.” Financial independence may be a long way away for these tiny tots, so nobody can fault their imaginations!
The girls have clearly been spending a lot of time spying on their camera- and smartphone-owning elders, as they expertly handle the unassuming plastic slipper just like a phone. Their mannerisms are uncanny! The girls variously drag their fingers across the “screen,” and look into the “lens” with adorable poses at the ready, in order to capture the perfect moment.
The giggling pair, obviously the very best of friends, perfectly emulate their parents by “snapping” a series of portraits, and even shift to landscape mode for a different angle. It’s photographic creativity at its finest.
Observant viewers will notice that the little girl holding the shoe has swapped one of her own shoes with her next-door neighbor. Clearly, her own plain red slipper didn’t pass muster, and she had to upgrade to a blue, patterned model, instead.
Whether or not the neighbor knows she’s been the victim of a surreptitious slipper swap is anybody’s guess.
Minh Phương included a video of the entire charade to the delight of the social media community. At the time of writing, the post had been shared over 53,000 times, and who can blame them? This is cuteness overload!
Another social media user commented, “too pure for this world.”
Meanwhile, another commenter can’t seem to fathom “why is she wearing two different slippers.”
The video has garnered more than 11 million views in just two weeks.
A slipper is certainly cheaper than a smartphone. Long live the imagination, that’s all we can say!
